Braeburn Glen is a relatively small community of 324 homes bordering the streets of Ferguson, Barnes Bridge, Cotillion and Drummond Drive. Our community is just to the West of the Dallas Athletic club & golf course.
Neighbors know each other, and many have lived here since the neighborhood was started in 1964, You can normally see people power walking, walking their dogs, and riding their bikes. Our quiet neighborhood is close to 635 & 30, Downtown, Arboreatum, Cotillion Park, Dallas Athletic Club & golf course, and about 15 minutes from White Rock Lake. We are actuallly in Dallas, but on the East side, close to Mesquite and Garland. We have a very active Crime Watch and VIP (Volunteers in Patrol) group, along with Yard of the Month, and Christmas light contest.
This web site is to help neighbors keep in touch with various information about the neighborhood and the City of Dallas. We will have coupons, Announcements, Neghborhood meetings posted, special events and volunteer opportunities. The neighborhood has pretty low crime rate which is achieved by many things, mainly propelled by volunteers, like VIP program, Block Captains, and Yard of the Month.
UPDATE: Ferguson Road Initiative program!
Ferguson Road Initiative was established in 1998, by Vicki Martin who lives in a south Dallas Neighborhood called Claremon Neighborhood, when her bike was stolen out of her garage. she stated this (FRI) organization to fight crime and also assist in community building and improvement of the area. this organization has been a National example of how a neighborhood can fight crime and work together with residences, police, code and council members to transform the area. Violent crime has dropped 70%, and overall crime has dropped 40% and includes 20 neighborhood assoc's. Our neighborhood and 9 other neighborhoods have been joined with this group in Nov 09, to work on the area off of Ferguson Rd & 635 to Buckner blvd. This New area that is added to FRI is now titled "Greater Casa View", which includes our Neighborhood. Volunters in Patrol (VIP)
As a resident of Braeburn Glen you may have been living here for many years or you may be new to our neighborhood. Our VIP program provides the extra set of eyes to assist the police in our neighborhood. VIP patrollers have clearly marked vehicles adn their main goal is to establish a safety presence in our neighborhood. All VIP patrollers are certified by the Dallas Police Dept & have completed a 3 day training session in crime prevention. This is a non-confrontational group that does not carry weapons. Patrollers choose the time and days they can volunteer, and can patrol our neighborhood during al hours of the day and evening. A VIP group is the #1 thing a neighborhood can do to help control crime. Help us keep our neighborhood safe!
